Annamaria is barely an afterthought in this volume. While I thought that was attributable to the interlude nature of the installment, she doesn’t have much of a role in later books either. While her place in those books seems limited to that of a plot device, however, she’s just sort of irrelevant here. Jolie–the girl who helps Odd–is a great new character, and I enjoyed getting to experience part of the narrative from her perspective. Given that narrative change, however, I would have expected her to become an ongoing member of the cast of characters, which she does not. There aren’t as many great side characters as in the first three books, but definitely more than in book four.Odd Interlude isn’t as beautifully quotable as the first two books in the series, but it pulled me in much quicker than books three and four. (It didn’t tug on my emotions enough to have the teary tidbits from the first two books, but it was still quite good.) The tension and pacing were enjoyable, and the details of the plot had enough complexity and interest to them to drag me along quite readily. The genre change was executed skillfully, such that I didn’t feel wrenched out of the immersion. While Odd Interlude isn’t the hilarious, whimsical, beautiful thrill ride of the earliest books (Odd Thomas and Forever Odd), it’s absolutely a return to better plotting from Odd Hours. It’s about equal to Brother Odd in plot depth, but better in terms of pacing and tension.

"Odd Interlude" is the only Odd Thomas book that does not come out in hardcover. I was very disappointed when I realized this, as I tend to hang onto all my Dean Koontz books. I'm guessing that this book was written because Dean Koontz was having writer's block with the next book in his series....Nonetheless, since "Odd Interlude" is a part of the Odd Thomas series, I kept the paperback, read it, and thoroughly enjoyed it, as I have done with all of Dean Koontz's books. As I write this review, I have already read the remaining Odd Thomas books and all were thoroughly well written and hard to put down.

I had previously read "Deeply Odd" and rated it a 3 star effort. I wasn't going to read any more of the series, but as I had already purchased "Odd Interlude" I went ahead and read it, expecting nothing much. Was I surprised. From the very first, it grabbed my attention. I was comfortable with the story but then a big twist and it was an even better story, and it just kept on keeping on. A true horror story that really delivers. Great portrayal of characters. I will continue with the series.

I read this book because I love most books written by Dean Koontz. I like being sucked into the story right away. I love how good versa evil and good always wins, though evil lurks in the shadows waiting to conquer and destroy. Reminding one, the a hero's work is never done. I love the ending yet wished Odd's female companion participated more. There was a gap, that made you wonder what she was doing, when Odd was fighting the good fight. That was quite disconcerting to me and rather "odd!" So NOT like Dean Koontz! It was a fast read and made me wish I hadn't finished the book so fast. I also like the fact that it wasn't as dark. I have been a fan from the very beginning of Dean Koontz career and I always will be! Love him!!!

This was a fun and engaging prequel to the events of the first Odd Thomas novel. A great introduction to the character, these graphic novels are lighter in tone and scope that the novels, but they are no less interesting. In the graphic novels, we get a view of what came before and the backstory of Odd and Stormy. Great story with manga-esque art make House of Odd a fun and quick one-sitting read for readers who have followed Odd from the start to newbies who stumbled across the title while looking through graphic novel selections.House of Odd is a must for anyone who's been following the exploits of Odd Thomas and his cohorts, and a great intro for those who are new to the books. Don't miss it!

This was a good parting story from the series. I left it last to read because I knew it would be hard to have nothing about Odd Thomas left to read. I will miss this series a lot. Maybe you could write more odd Thomas stories about the second world that he and stormy are living in? I really hope so!

Enjoyed the story. I love that in the graphic novels Stormy is still alive. I miss her in the odd books. I know she is mentioned in the books but I hate that she passed. I love the Odd series as I love all of Koonz books. Well done and a quick read. I prefer color to black and white but the characters were well defined and the story itself was easy to follow. Another winner

I have always been a fan of Odd Thomas, so when my husband needed something to read, I put him in touch with Odd. However, this book was missing from my library (probably a child or grandchild borrowed it) I had to replace my copy with another one.
