For me, this was an initially compelling revenge story. The beginning hooked me in, and it had some interesting moments. It's escapist fiction: "what would that be like if it happened to me?" However, I fell out of love with it about midway through. The love story that begins in the middle didn't do it for me, and the whole book ran out of steam for me. The protagonist definitely gets her revenge, leaving the cheating pair sadder in the end. I think this might appeal more to someone who actually has had their best friend and/or husband/boyfriend totally cheat on them. If you love revenge stories or are already a fan of Fallon's books, you'll probably like it.

Jane Fallon's Faking Friends is a great page turner of a read that had me hooked already from page one. I loved following Amy's story as she comes to realise that the man she loves has not been faithful and the woman he's been unfaithful with just happens to be Amy's closest friend. What unfolds from then onwards is an addictive tale of frenemies, revenge and dreams (lost and found).A fun read that shows us Amy's past and present, and gives the reader a satisfying story that leaves us asking whether revenge is really worth it and what happens when a frenemy becomes a full-blown enemy.

SUCH a great read!!! By the end of this book I was sad to let the characters go - I felt like I got to know Amy and her friends. I have read all of Jane's books and this is one of the best, though they're all good. It's chick lit, humour, suspense, feelgood, happy, and twisty-turny revenge, all in one book. SO good. You always know a book is good when you can't wait to get back to it, plus the ending was very satisfying. Ten stars out of five for Faking Friends :)

It took a while to get into the book, hoping for something and eventually the story began to unfold. And initially I was shocked. Vengeance might be something we can take, but most of us just move on. But do we? Or do we take the hurt and pain and wish down all sorts of horrible thing on our "enemy". I think forgiveness is the only true release. Friendship and people we can count on shine through.

Excellent reading and/or listening. Narrator does a wonderful job portraiting the lead character and author, Jane Fallon, writes a wonderful story that makes you interested in every new encounter. It’s been a long time since I read a book or “listened” to a book but this book has rekindled an interest in more adventures created by Fallon. It’s my first Fallon reading and won’t be my last.

I've enjoyed several of Jane Fallons books, and I looked forward to reading this. It is however very predictable.All the books are made from the same formula, and the characters are more or less the same as in previous books. I've rated it as OK, because it is not bad entertainment, but unfortunately too much of the same thing. Perfect book for the beach- and there is nothimg wrong with that.

This is a cleverly written, intriguing, and funny book. The story has some twists and turns that keep the reader interested to the very end because just as you think you have worked out the plot the writer throws you a curve ball. A tremendous read and highly recommended.

Fun book for an afternoon. Light to read and a little predictable but it was great and I passed it on to someone else to read. I’d recommend it

Some good review material here, and with good illustrations, but too much of the book is about the author's own non-mainstream theory of time.

It's not that the back is not good quality....it just isn't good for ME. It was way too technical and I found myself unable to follow the concepts. But when it comes right down to it, I may not have been that interested, either. The graphics were great and what grabbed my attention in the first in place. So I recommend the book for those who really want to learn more about time, literally.

I found the way the book dealt with time done well, though the graphics didn't really add much. It was a bit of a distraction. If you want to know some of the theories regarding the arrow of time, is time real and can you travel back in time, it's worth a read.

Great book for poems

I searched Amazon for Tree Poems and *poof* Old Elm Speaks. I love this collection of poetry for all ages. Few things illustrate the life cycle like a tree and there are too many wonderful poems to mention one by one.After you read a few pages, you open your eyes wider to the world around you - isn't that what poetry is for?

I was in the mood for a good, wholesome, feel-good love story. Every once in a while Sparks delivers. The last book of his I picked up, "The Longest Ride" was one of those feel goody types so I had high hopes for this one. The first couple chapters of "The Best of Me" were ok...just Ok. After the first few chapters the story quickly went downhill. I personally felt it was confusing the way it introduced new character viewpoints each chapter. Sometimes this can work in the author's favor but in this case we never really got to know any characters in depth.Also, without giving too much away I felt storylines were recycled from other well known novels of his - i.e., parents don't approve of leading lady's boyfriend, fight ensues, couple breaks up, leading lady moves on (but not entirely), long separation & then reunion, mother of leading lady shows up at house to talk some sense into leading lady (but maybe to encourage her to follow her own path)....sounding familiar? *cough*The Notebook*cough*.Semi-Spoiler Alert!!No happy ending here...not even a semi-happy ending where they grow old and die together. The ending to this story was rushed and sadly predictable and left a lot to be desired. "Best of Me" was definitely not Nicholas Sparks best work. I'm surprised by how many 4 and 5 stars it received.

Nicholas Sparks never disappoints. This is a poignant story about chances: random chances, lost chances, and second chances. A story of families, relationships, regrets and redemption. About once-in-a-lifetime, enduring love; lost, found, denied, and eventually recaptured. It's a story of honor, duty, responsibility, purpose, selflessness, and fate. This book will make you fall in love; will break your heart, will make you cry, and just maybe, it might even bring a little smile to your heart at the end. What more could you ask for! This is "the best of" Nicholas sparks!

I like to read a Sparks novel occasionally as a break from more serious literature. They seem like well written romances with good plots and characters. However, the endings have become predictable and never 100% happy. From the beginning of this book, I kept thinking about how it would end and if someone would get killed.Dawson and Amanda had been high school sweethearts even though they came from "opposite sides of the tracks" in Oriental, NC. They split up due to pressures by her parents. She ended up married to a dentist and they had children. Dawson went to prison for four years for accidentally killing the town's doctor when driving a vehicle. Later he worked on offshore rigs in the Gulf.Dawson and Amanda met up again over 20 years later when Tuck a mutual friend and father figure in Oriental died. His will requested that they scatter his ashes at a cottage that had been owned by him and his deceased wife. Two of Dawson's cousins hated him and made multiple attempts on his life.At some point the ending became very predictable and typical of Sparks. Nonetheless, I enjoyed reading it. At least up to the predictable ending.

If you ever had a first love that got away, this is the book. It was a real page turner. It brought out a range of emotions, including tears. I really enjoyed this book. I read reviews where people said it was predictable. Maybe so at times, but I say it is a true romantic story. He wrote it with other characters involved in the story, and left us to fill in the details of their lovemaking. He tells a story, not just focusing on jumping in and out of bed. I found this very refreshing. I've read 2 more books by him since this read. I've found an author who actually tells a story.At first I thought I knew how the ending would be, but boy was I wrong. A funeral brings two high school lovers back together, but only for a short time. An old man's last wishes, a bar fight, car accident, and a one in a million chance of getting a transplant will keep you reading this book untill the very end.I'm not a big romance novel fan, but I tend to find myself enjoying Nicholas Sparks books anyway. I love how his stories are really well developed and thought-provoking, rather than just revolving around the physical aspects of love as many other romance novels do. "The Best of Me" had to be one of Nicholas Sparks' best novels yet. Yes, the basic theme is one that's been done over and over again - two high school sweethearts having to let go because real life interferes, and then running into each other again years later. But this story is so much more than that. You find yourself really sympathizing with the characters and understanding how difficult their situations are. Nicholas Sparks captures and holds your attention until the very end in this book, and this story is one that I'm sure will stick with me for a long time.The Best of Me follows the struggles of Amanda as she must decide between her imperfect family and her first love, Dawson. Her decision is heart-wrenching, and the events that ensue will inevitably bring tears to your eyes. Amanda discovers what really matters in life, and Dawson is able to truly give the best of himself to Amanda in a shocking manner.In true Nicholas Sparks fashion, The Best of Me is simultaneously heart-warming, melancholy, and suspenseful. How Dawson gives life to Amanda is sure to change your view on what is important to you.

It was corny and unrealistic. His books have gone from romantic to nauseating over the years and this is no exception. Amanda is childish. So she has problems in her marriage, who doesn't? So as soon as she sees her first love runs into his arms. And Dawson, never dated, had sex ever again because he never got over Amanda. Seriously?! Finished it because I did purchase it but oh no. What a waste!!!
