About the Author

Douglas Van Dorn is the author of Waters of Creation: A Biblical Theology of Baptism and Galatians: A Supernatural Justification. This book is one of the best I've read. Well documented facts and solid conclusions are made based on the facts. Everyone should read this book to gain an understanding of how the who, what, when, where, and how of history and God's plan for humanity. Highly recommended if you've ever felt uncomfortable when the liberals call out that mean old God in the Old Testament who wiped out earth's population with a worldwide flood and ordered the execution of the inhuman (men, women, and children) occupants of the land promised to Abraham's descendants. As usual God had a solid reason for ordering this action by His citizen soldiers as they conquered the Giants in the land. It doesn't seem cruel at all once your know why the Lord directed this action. I strongly advise that you purchase, read, study, and grow. You will be glad you did.

This is a well written book, a very detailed book, a very well researched book, and a very PRACTICAL book. One might be thinking, "Giants? Interesting, but I don't see the relationship to myself." That thought becomes Van Dorn's greatest asset. He does a remarkable job connecting all the very large dots to tell a story that matters.The amount of research that went into this book, which is displayed in great depth in the end-notes, is truly unbelievable. This is no speculative fantasy - it's a well documented journey that starts with evil, and ends up where it should - Jesus Christ. That's the relationship it carries to us, and Van Dorn's concern for the "story" (true!) that reaches through the entire Old Testament and continues today should make our spines tingle. Early on in the reading of this book, someone asked me what I thought so far, and my response was, "creepy, but in a good way." If what the author presents is indeed factual, (and he makes a very strong case that it is) then the ramifications are truly chilling. Ancient DNA manipulation? Creatures so terrifying that the movie industry wishes they could come up with them? It's all here, and it all speaks to the ancient truth of good versus evil, where ultimately, the King of King's seals the final victory. If THAT isn't practical, I don't know what is.Every chapter builds on the last, and gives a tour of Scripture that so many have missed or glossed over for so many years. If it doesn't convince you fully, it will at least make you think real hard about not only how you view Genesis 6, but the entire world - let alone the Bible! There is so much nonsense and fascination with the supernatual in the world today, it's great to see a book that presents the truth in a way that doesn't over-extend into conspiracy theory, but also doesn't deny that there are things in this world that need to be understood.Overall, the book is WORTH the read, whether you are a skeptic, a believer, or someone just interested in the subject matter, - you won't go away disappointed. Money well spent.

The topic of this book is way too complex to be covered in one trade book. Dorn tries, and I think succeeds, in making his case that the Genesis 4 Giants are indeed physical giants that were somehow engendered by spiritual forces or "Watchers" by means of, perhaps, genetic manipulation or metaphysical manipulation. At first the notion seems ludicrous but, for over two thousand years Christians have accepted that God "overshadowed" the virgin Mary in order that God Himself could be born a Son of Man or Son of Adam.The fallen Angels, of coarse, are not God but nevertheless have the power to appear in physical form and even eat and, thus it would seem, have the power to manipulate material energy. Perhaps manipulating DNA and/or the normally fertilized ova of human mothers isn't so ludicrous. Perhaps this whole phenomenon was Satan's primary offense against God's prophesy that the woman's seed would crush his head. Perhaps Satan was trying to transform all seed of women into his seed. Perhaps this seed or genetic frontline of attack is what is in view when God describes Noah as "perfect in his generations"--that his (and presumably his wife's) genome was not contaminated with any trace of Satan's agenda.In any case, Dorn makes a compelling case by dealing with every known objection to his proposition and exploring the scriptures thoroughly and also much etymological evidence. But, as I said, the topic is too complex and needs way to much more in-depth research and exploration for one book to be more than a survey of the propositions. I'm intrigued but I'd like to see more.

The extra biblical evidence and sources are treated with carefulness and given its proper place in biblical studies. Exegesis of the text and comparing scripture with scripture and not necessarily systems of theology or traditions must guide the biblical understanding of any subject in scripture. The author does just that!!! Excellent. With the exception of 3 or 4 points I agree with the Author!!

excellent book in easy understanding wording......it is written without the clinical way of other books. his mom has the disease and he tells theall the problems surrounding it and some ways of dealing with it. I found it to be much easier reading then other ones, since I have recently beentold I also have this horrible disease.

I'm living as Lianna lived, with a mother who has Parkinson's. Her ideas and tips are helpful especially when learning what the hell this disease is all about!

Overnight this book helped me better understand what my Mom was going through and helped me calm her down during an "off" time. It made her symptoms more easy to understand.

She also writes long-form liner notes for reissues of historic albums. A native of Evansville, Indiana, Ms. Osmon grew up in the Midwest underground music scene. She discovered Jason Molina’s music in 1998 after the song “Vanquisher” from the first Songs: Ohia LP made rounds on a mix tape among her high school friends. This is her first book.

I started this book at 11pm, thinking I'd read for an hour or so before bed. Before I knew it, I'd reached the end of the book and it was 4am. Jason Molina has been my all-time favorite musician since I first discovered him in 2005. I knew all the words to all the songs, and I'd derived my own meanings for them, but I often wondered what the circumstances were that caused them to be written. This well-researched book answered many of the questions that I had. Osmon breaks down several song lyrics and ties them to individual events in his life, which is just what I'd always been curious to know.Jason's work was largely autobiographical, but this book is a welcome insight from the other side of the story. To hear from the objects of his love songs was especially a treat. I finished this book with an incredible respect for Darcie Schoenmann. Having listened to his body of work, seen a couple of his performances, and briefly met the man, I'd gotten the impression that he was an intense personality. Through reading Osmon's book, I was able to learn exactly how intense of a personality Molina was and through that I was able to develop a new understanding of his life and work and a respect for the people who loved him.There are a few typos and some issues that could have been resolved in another round of editing, perhaps, but it doesn't detract from the work in any way. Osmon has a great control of pacing and ability to construct a timeline, which makes the book very easy to read.

I finished this book several days ago and I'm still thinking about it pretty much constantly. The experience of reading this book was all-encompassing and I hardly accomplished anything else until it was done. The story made me feel sad and anxious. There were points in the narrative which felt like this was a novelization to a horror story. I think there is an obvious purpose for why this book should exist, and I did not at all view it as gossipy or exploitative.

For those who miss the late, great troubadour Jason Molina, best known for his works under the monikers Songs: Ohia and Magnolia Electric Company, this book is a must read. The end of the book does a particularly great job illuminating what was a dark period for Molina and his friends and family. Closer to Johnny Cash than any other songwriter of his generation, Jason Molina will be missed.

I’m a huge Molina fan and love most everything he produced. I was wanting to know more about his life and his death and this book does a nice job exploring that. Jason Molina was, and still is, an under appreciated artist of immense talent. This won’t increase awareness of him, but help those that loved his work understand more. Thank you for that.

This book has literally changed my psyche. I've always had an emotional reaction to Molina's music, but it's uniquely poignant after this book. I feel like I am more attuned to the implicit messages and meaning behind the music. Especially considering (which I learned from reading this book) Molina would not interpret his music for others, suggesting they listen to the music to figure it out instead. I just really, really appreciate having this book on my bookshelf. Thank you.
