Let me start by saying that photographs in this book are worth 5 stars. The problem with the tome is the text. For some odd reason the text included is in three languages - which wouldn't be a problem in and of itself - but the layout of the text is confusing as hell. This book could have used a much better layout editor to maintain a consistent flow from pictures to the multi-lingual text. If you can overcome the difficulty of the layout the pictures are well worth the effort.

What a wonder! So many I'd never seen before. Well organized by region.

If I'd only read the only review!Landscape photos across two pages, split by the spine just doesn't work!!One picture had a person's face split by the spine, totally took away from the visual experience.VERY uncharacteristic of the publisher!I'm surprise this design got thru the Taschen machine!

Wonderful book, great price!

I'm disappointed that the book format is so small, but the pictures in it are simply amazing. There is a decent amount of text as well, but I only read a few bits of it here and there.It needs to be a bigger book, and if it was it could be a shorter book as well.

A thick, chunky book of photos in the Taschen Bibliotheca Universalis series (what they call 'compact cultural companions') with almost four hundred photos taken between 1935 and 1943. The majority are from the Farm Security Administration archives and a few from the Office of War Information but none showing how industry and the armed forces coped in a wartime setting up to 1943 when the OWI folded.As you would expect most of the really famous FSA photos are here: migrant mother by Lange; the bleached skull and dust storm by Rothstein; Ella Watson (American gothic) by Parks; Bud Fields and family by Evans. I think the strength of the book is the two hundred or more photos that are relatively unknown in a nicely varied selection, a lot of rural poverty of course but also a cross-section of American life back then. There are also fifty-five color photos scattered through the book's 608 pages and nicely this included ten from Russell Lee's significant photo essay of Pie Town, New Mexico taken in 1940.Author Peter Walther contributes, in the front of the book, a brief essay about the Roy Stryker and how he organised the photographers, the back pages have biographies of nineteen of them. The paper is a good matt art using a 175 screen for the images. All of them have captions and frequently a quote from the photographer about a particular shot.Though the book is full of really wonderful photos I've only given it four stars because of the format. An upright page 7.75 by 5.5 inches doesn't really work with so many landscape pictures, it leaves half a page for the captions (in three languages) and empty white space. The small format also means that all of the spread photos have the spine running through them. I was made aware of the book's shortcomings when comparing it with Michael Lesy's 2002 published 'Long time coming' which covers the same period with 410 photos (the only other book that has so many FSA pictures) but in a much larger size and with a photo a page though unfortunately no color. Of these two books I much prefer the Lesy title, more photos, a decent size and several good essays and it can picked up for a low price, too.

One of the best cookbooks I’ve ever bought. Fascinating facts and traditions about all the schools, which my husband loved reading. I like that not only are there a ton of recipes but recipes for cocktails and mocktails and suggestions for twists on recipes. For instance there is a page with tons of different suggestions for stuffing jalapeños with a photo of each style. The recipes are creative but not too difficult and the images are great and festive. The forward by Finebaum is a great touch. Not just a gift for tailgating, a great gift for any cook really.

Good recipes, pictures and stories!! I bought 2 more to ship to out of state friends who are SEC fanatics!

A very fun cookbook. Love it! Used it for a tailgate party.

Featuring all of the SEC schools, complete with a short history about the University in the section, this cookbook has dishes representative of what readers might find at a tailgating party. The introduction includes tips for tailgating that are helpful to anyone having a backyard party, including safe holding temperatures and a handy chart for grilling meats and fish.Right off the bat, there are recipes such as Cranberry-Apple Breakfast Crumble (p. 42), a delicious offering that would be perfect for dessert as well, and Razorback Breakfast Casserole (p. 30), a savory dish filled with enough protein and carbohydrates to give eaters a good start to the day. There are refreshing beverage recipes for drinks like Watermelon-Mint Lemonade (p. 55), as well as a three page spread of spritzers for every team (pp. 71-73).Snacks and Dips are plentiful, just as one might expect. Readers can find recipes for tasty treats such as Ham and Cheddar Pinwheels (p. 38), Loaded Brisket Nachos (p. 167), and a two page spread of Jalapeño Poppers with recipes for each team (pp. 106-107). I recently joined a mountain search and rescue team, and so I wanted to understand what I would face. The book details the ways the team evaluates new recruits, how those recruits become a part of the team by assuming team identities and memes. I found it very helpful in this regard. Also, the sections on the emotions that arise in rescuers, in victims, and in victim's families --and the analysis of these emotions and the responses to them-- were really insightful and useful. It is a fairly quick read. Recommended for anyone interested in understanding the culture of volunteer search and rescue teams.

I was hoping to love this book because of all the great reviews, but I was just not in love with it. I didn't find the photos of the dogs that cute or that funny so I ended up returning it. I had purchased it for a friend who loves dogs, but decided to go with another option. There are head shots of all the dogs in the back with their names, which is cute. The quality of the book is good. The photos are really large on glossy paper and the color is very vibrant. The book is hardcover and comes with a paper sleeve that goes over it (this ended up getting crinkled on the edges during shipping) but some people throw those away anyway. I showed my roommate the book and she thought it was cute, so maybe it's just me that doesn't love it!

A beautifully done book of awesome dogs in action. As with the book "Pounce" I bought this book for my mother, who is suffering from Alzheimer's, as she loves to look at pictures of animals. Each photo made her laugh and smile broadly. A wonderful book for all of the family.

I liked the dog one for 2014 because the dogs looked like they were having fun while they were swimming and being photographed. This one, however, it looks like the puppies are being traumatized and terrified. I feel like I'm complicit in puppy abuse with this calendar. I did re-purchase the dog one for 2015.

The pictures of the dogs are grotesque and not at all cute--they all look like monsters. I would never purchase this book for myself, because EW!However, this book (along with the Underwater Puppies 2015 Wall Calendar and Underwater Dogs book) was purchased as a gift and the recipient was so happy to receive it. It makes for a funny conversation piece as all the dogs are super ugly and funny-looking.

This book could very well be a companion piece to SHAKE PUPPIES by Carli Davidson. They are both very wonderful and laugh out loud funny. As I mentioned in my review for that book, I bought this as my wife and I both love dogs, not to mention puppies. I am not sure how Seth managed to get these pictures of these puppies, some of them are just 7-8 weeks old. These pictures are guaranteed to give you a smile, and a laugh. If you like dogs and puppies, bet these books. I absolutely love them both.

As I was browsing through calendars for the new year I saw this one and how could I resist?? Such cute pictures! They'll bring a smile all year long when walking by the calendar and seeing them. We had a Lab in our family who absolutely loved the water and one picture in particular reminds me of him and how excited he'd get around the water. Could barely keep him out of it and it was fun to watch him enjoying it when he got to play in it.

I own a number of books on the subject and this book is unbelievable. First it is a massive book. As big as the Waffenrock book. The pictures are exceptional and clear. Some I have in other books but many I have not seen before. The book includes detailed and very clear photos of uniforms, shoulder boards, decorations and award packets, Wehrpass, Soldbuch, and personal items. The book is well worth every penny and I highly recommend you buy it immediately.

The final volume in a tremendiously detailed work.This series will be the benchmark for all future books on German militaria. Fine quality from binding to photos,worth every penny.

Col. Pritchett must have invested a lot of time to get together all this excellent information about a very special German military elite unit. A lot has been published about German WW II divisions, - nothing before like this! You read not only about the early history of the regiment that later grew into a much bigger size but you learn about the uniforms, the insignia, the documents and the awards won by members of the "Grossdeutschland" soldiers. There are original pictures of the time that have never been published next to really nice and detailed pictures of the actual original relicts. - Who likes to read about WW II in Europe should own these books (Vol. 1 and 2). I am very happy to own them, I learnt a lot! I have a good number of publications about German military units of all times on my book shelves, - nothing like this! Looking forward to more publications of Scott Pritchett.

Beautiful books from binding to covers, to photos and narration of the uniforms, insignia, and photos. I have all 3 of the books and they all are awesome additions to my militaria collection. Highly recommended to those students of military history who are as fascinated with the German Army's most elite division, GD!

I don't normally go out of my way to write critical or bland reviews for books on Amazon, since I'm also an author and understand the hard work that goes into producing content and marketing it. And my gripe with this isn't the author's fault, so the content itself is FIVE stars, hands down!However, the publisher really dropped the ball on the Kindle formatting with this release, and by the looks of the reviews, the print version as well.First, the good:I LOVE the Passion Translation, and to date have bought almost every single Kindle book Brian Simmons has produced, often times at the same price as "full length" books, just because I think his work is valuable and a great service to the Body of Christ. When I first saw the entire New Testament and Psalms, Proverbs, and Song of Solomon in one book instead of having to have a bunch of different files on my Kindle in order to access passages in the TPT, I was excited and pre-ordered it.The bad:Once I finally got my hands on it, I started reading Song of Solomon and didn't notice the glaring navigation problems until I thought I'd check some segments out of John 14, 15, and 16 for a small study I was doing on passages from those chapters. I couldn't believe a digital Bible would neglect to include a way to easily navigate to the individual chapters of each NT book from the TOC menu. So, if you want to read a specific chapter out of the Psalms for example, you have to go to the beginning of it and swipe forward until you get to the chapter you want. Or I suppose go to Proverbs and swipe back. Either way, a time waster if you just wanted to open it up and read later in a book or reference something from it.Either way, I'm surprised this made its way onto Amazon with this major oversight. When this is fixed I'll adjust my review and publicly give it the five stars it otherwise deserves.

I already LOVED the Passion Translation and had been buying the individual books on kindle as they were released - now I love the actual print copy too. I was so excited when the whole New Testament + was complete and pre-ordered it months in advance. However, when it finally came I was a bit disappointed by the quality. The pages were so thin that it was very difficult to read in anything but perfect lighting--and a bit challenging even then. I was still grateful to have all of it in one book, so I made do and continued to devour it. BUT when I learned a 2nd edition was being released that fixed these issues, I jumped on it again. Given the transformational impact of this beautiful translation and the reasonable cost for the hardbound version, I was happy to pay for another copy. Now I will enjoy it even more! Kudos to the publishers for recognizing the problems and making the changes quickly.

This review is not a reflection on the translation. Though I would that our loving brother and minister gave priority to the Majority Text over the Critical Text, this version is still a blessing & I can still find value in it.I have the complete paper back collection & it’s Kindle companions.I also have some of Brian Simmons other books which are a blessing as well.Concerning this new Bible bound in Black Imitation Leather:The binding is Smyth Sewn and ok for the price.The Imitation Leather is actually pretty nice and soft.This Bible lays relatively flat at about 70 pgs in.It is a paste down liner & appears more on the cheap side (expected for this price.)I really love it’s size; it is a Hand Size Bible for sure. Thinner than a Clarion but slightly taller by about an inch with the width being about a half-inch wider.The paper appears to be less than a 28gsm; not sure exactly but it is very thin.***It is not line matched.***The paper quality is really subpar and thus the ghosting is so pronounced it makes this production of the tPt Translation unreadable.(Some pages are not bad, while other pages are really bad.)I would of preferred a slightly thicker Bible with better paper.But you can get a nice 28gsm with Line Matching for this same thickness IMO.It’s more the quality of the paper process that the paper goes through v. the gsm.The Line Matching can make all the difference with 32gsm or lower and still is such a blessing for the 36gsm Bibles.So I like the translation as a back up translation to use on top of a Solid Literal Translation, but again the paper quality for this current production is really bad and makes it unreadable.I do not understand how this can make it past the quality control check.I have $25-30 Bibles (slightly less) that have much better paper than this.I would love to see another attempt made with Line Matching and Better Paper.I would purchase one for sure.My apologies with the shadows in the pictures; thank you all for reading. :)

While I have been waiting for about 7 months for this (and ordered 2 additional copies for my friends) I have to admit I am really sad and disappointed with the quality. The font is very small, but what is worse if that the pages are so thin, not only can you read the back of the page through the one you are looking at, but you can clearly read the next page through the page you are on. This is highly distracting and makes it almost impossible to focus.I have waited so long for this to come out, and was so excited to open my box, but the font and see-through page issue is very very disappointing. I have to put a blank paper under the page I am on in order to read it. This is a little help, but only a little.Thant being said, I am confident that it is going to be amazing, and I hope that a correction to these conditions comes out soon. I would much rather the book be larger and thicker to make up for the font and page visibility issue.

Yet another series about someone dying and coming back as an OP character in a fantastical world, and you know what? I didn't mind it.It was quite surprising how enjoyable this read was. Instead of focusing on the magic of the world, or the fighting, this series does a great job at subverting those expectations by making the protagonist's motivation be the opposite of what we're used to. Instead of conquering, or acquiring magic, or building new settlements, the main protagonist Routa only wants to be a cuddly puppy for his new rich family and laze around all day while eating meat and cheese.The read itself is quick, light, and easy. You'll most likely finish this in one or two sittings. Each chapter is like a short story where Routa finds something new about either himself or the world and tries his hardest to rebel against it with his cuteness. From becoming King, to sneaking into a dragon's nest, all Routa really wants is to be home with his master and get head pats. The action, while there, is few and far between. Optioning for a more comedic read this story loves to gush about the craft of food and what naps under a tree are like on a warm summer's day.So while I don't have anything negative to say about this new series, how come I gave it 4 pats on the head out of 5?Mostly because it's a light and fun story, and a short book on top of that. One of the shortest I've seen Yen On release (I'll include a size comparison in my pictures) and so far it's only a good afternoon's worth. I'm definitely intrigued on where they go from here and will totally be picking up the next volume.

Noticed this come in near midnight, and started reading only to find myself finishing it up in one go. This strikes me as a mix of reborn in a fantasy world, slice of life, comedy, and transmogrified existence. It actually came across as fairly similar in concept to 'I've been killing slimes for 300 years and maxed out my level.' Overall it was amusing and enjoyable, but the character development was a bit on the shallow side in this first release. Routa tries very hard to maintain his ideal of pampered puppy bliss, but of course there is a constant string of predictable incidents large and small to deal with in pursuit of keeping his new family safe. I see possibilities for how things may develop, but expect that the slice of life feel will hold.

This novel is basically the story of a man who dies from overwork and wants to be reincarnated as a dog so he can live a life of leisure and luxury, but thanks to an annoying goddess (go figure) he’s an overpowered magical wolf. This of course leads him to do and take on things he’d rather not because he wants to be lazy, but trouble has a way of finding him.The story took a little while to pick up and I almost dropped it, but if you’re into Slice of Life comedy novels I think you’ll like it if you give it a chance.

It's your typical isekai, with the only unique point of the protagonist being reincarnated as a dog. He doesn't have any interesting personality, and their wasn't any real plot. The story was just meh and I don't think I will continue this story.

What a wonderful idea! And it's a fun read too. I loved Routa and his problems of not being able to as adorable as he had hoped. It really was a fun read, and I look forward to the next book.

I couldn't seem to get into any of the books I wanted to read. I'd read for 5-10 minutes and switch books. I decided to try this and I read it in one shot. It was a nice change and I'm looking forward to the next one.

The old adage of be careful with what you wish for holds true with this story. Defiantly a different perspective on the the whole rebirth idea.

Silly, but a cute and fun story. If you're looking for something light-hearted, and doesn't take itself too seriously, consider this novel.
