I had this book as a child so I wanted to share it with my 3 year old. We have had fun reading it, although I'd forgotten that all the cats eat each other in the end. He didn't seem bothered by it, which just goes to show that toddlers are ruthless. This will probably not go into frequent rotation here simply because it doesn't grab his attention the way the newer books with more colorful illustrations and engaging stories do. But I'm glad we have it anyway, it was a fun memory for me to revisit with him.

Great classic about a husband and wife team that decide they need a cat in their lives because, they are lonely without children. So the husband sets out to get one cat for the house. In typical man-style he returns with many many more cats then they need. Specifically, he returns with hundreds of cats, thousands of cats, millions and billions and trillions of cats. They decide they can't support them all chaos pursues. Illustrations are very cute and memorable. Hoping it will allow my toddler to understand the increasing quantities of larger numbers. Fingers crossed. lol

I love this weirdo book. The story, the type, the illustrations. All of it combine to make a sort of dreamlike, surreal and indulgent kind of story and feeds my subconscious need to see millions and trillions and billions of cats all grouped together.

This classic book was written before the Newberry and Caldecott awards began. I think it could have won for thestory and or illustrations. I rate it as one of the top ten children's books of all time. A must-read about humility, as well as,hundred, thousands, and millions of cats!

Shantideva is one ogpf my favorite Buddhist philosophers. His Way of the Bodhisattva is a life-changing book. Further, Pema Chodron's commentary on this book is incisive, clear, and has helped me more than any other source to understand Shantideva and put his work in a modern context.So why does this book get one star in my review? Because this is an exact republication of Chodron's No Time to Lose. It's not an updated version either, or Chodron revisiting Shantideva with further insights. Page by page, character by character, this is the identical book. They changed the title and cover, but make no mention of what they did. When they do something like this, it screws those of us who have come to trust Chodron’s valuable teachings, confident that her future works will be worth a read.

I love this book. It is already making a difference in my daily life as I apply Chodron's writings to my lived experience. This is not one of her newer texts, yet I think it's worth reaching back in time and reading it if you haven't done so already. Excellent wisdom written with genuine compassion and humility - inspiring and instructional. A great book.

Great book in every way. Does not include Chapter 9 which she explains, Recommend the book by His Holiness the Dalai Lama on just Chapter 9.

I came across this book when i read an excerpt fro it in a collection of Buddhist works. I had been going through some tough personal issues, mostly of my own doing. I happened to read an excerpt on a whim and found it fascinating and really on target with what I had been dealing with. From there I decided to purchase the entire book and, although I havent quite finished yet (as I find myself stopping to reflect quite a bit), this book has taught me a new way to think about life and how to deal with the "restless mind" and "habitual thought patterns". This book can be very useful to anyone interested in discovering some of the mysteries of the mind. Highly recommended!

One of the worst text books I've read to date. Super confusing to understand as the author references synonymous notations back and forth to confuse the reader. His examples and explanations are hard to follow and understand. This could have been written so much easier to understand, even I could have written it better. Unfortunately I'm stuck using this book for my class, but thank God my professors lectures explain the material way more clearly for me to understand because reading this book alone would leave me lost.

Well... the text is pretty straightforward. It markets itself particularly to the social sciences, but in reality it is nothing more than an introductory statistics text. Nonetheless, it is very clearly written and covers most of the basics you need to do any kind of research (multiple regressions, ANOVA, basic t,z, and F-tests, etc.). This is by no means a theoretical textbook: if you want to learn about distribution theory and the proofs behind the tests look elsewhere. If you want a quick introduction and reference to the different methods and tests with all the assumptions and potential pitfalls then this text is perfect.

I personally didn't find this textbook's explanations or presentation of material entirely intuitive, especially for anybody who hadn't already been exposed to statistics. It serves a purpose just fine, but I think some of the topics could have benefited from clearer conceptual explanations. I was assigned it in a first-year PhD class, and found myself rereading a previous textbook when I couldn't remember certain ideas.

Exercises in this "international edition" are not the same to those of the American one. The text is the same, though.

the description is OK, but unfortunately they annoyingly have the chapter sub-subsections and examples all in one line, and their way of numbering sections and examples makes it much harder to quickly visibly scan through and find the specific example the professor is discussing in class (i.e. for chapter 5, you have subsection 5.1 which may contain examples 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3, then subsection 5.2 would have examples 5.4 and 5.5 etc, instead of more logically numbering them as subsection 5.1 example 5.1a, 5.1b, 5.1c, etc). This meant I was scrambling many times to get to the section the professor was actually discussing after accidentally winding up in the example instead of subsection (on those small classroom desks that are already too small for just my laptop, this was extremely annoying). The formatting is also problematic for me as a dyslexic in several ways. The information presented (once you get to it) is reasonably well-written but not so outstandingly better done than other textbooks that were formatted more logically to raise the rating (I would give this textbook a 2 star for the formatting issues alone, the quality of the actual instruction earned it an additional star from me).

Perfect condition, purchased for stats class.

I needed this book for HW assignments for a class I am taking. Although it may be to make the material more digestible, I have to say the book does a poor job of explaining concepts and makes it more confusing without prior knowledge. Also a lot of the exercises are vague and odd imo.
